What Exactly is "STEAM"?

In a world where technology surrounds us at every corner, we need to make sure that our children have the necessary skills to succeed. Lately, parents across the globe have become intrigued with STEAM because they have seen its positive effects on their children. STEAM allows students to learn in an open environment where they can experiment, make mistakes and keep trying, solve problems, and enhance their creativity. STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math.

At the Tricks with Bricks STEAM classes, your child will work on their STEAM skills and more. We offer a multi-year programs and individual classes for multiple age groups which include Robotics, 3D Modeling & Printing, Coding, Engineering, Photography, Animation, Game Programming, and more! If you want to give your child the necessary skills they need to thrive, our STEAM classes are a great place to start. ENGINEERING COURSES

The Introduction to Simple Machines course enables students to learn the basics of simple machines and how they are used in the world around them. Students will discover the principles of mechanics by exploring, investigating, and solving tasks related to simple machinery and discover the internal components of machines.

Junior Engineering I expands on the knowledge gained in Introduction to Simple Machines. These lessons enable young students to behave as young engineers by providing them with tools and tasks that promote scientific inquiry. They will observe and investigate further on simple machines.

In Engineering I, students learn the fundamentals of STEM with an emphasis on  how engineering impacts our everyday lives. With hands-on activities and an innovative curriculum of simple and powered machines, they will learn how to incorporate engineering with science, technology, and math to build upon their understanding of their surroundings with simple machines.

Engineering II  builds on the concept foundations taught in Engineering I and students will complete increasingly advanced projects and thoroughly exercise their problem solving skills as they figure out where errors in their projects occur.

ROBOTICS & CODING COURSES

 Junior Robotics and Coding I introduces programmable robots to students  that demonstrate the first stages of coding. In this course, students will learn through multiple engaging cross-curricular activities in our classroom that expand beyond the foundation of robotics and coding. By enriching our students’ experiences through these activities, they will learn a variety of engineering skills while exercising their problem-solving, computational thinking, and thinking skills.

Robotics & Coding II is tailored for students who have previous experience with robotics and coding. Designed as an introductory step to for a fully-featured robotics platform, students will expand on their knowledge from Robotics & Coding II as they learn how to utilize and control a variety of robot components and discover how they tie in to a fully functional robot.

ART,  TECHNOLOGY & CREATIVITY COURSES

Our Photography, Comic Book and Animation classes are fit for children that love taking photos and creating stories. This course stimulates the imagination of students, encourages creativity, and helps them develop a creative and innovative mindset. We empower students to communicate their stories confidently while also improving their thinking skills. Photography and Animation I also encourages students to think linearly when animating, which then translates to an improved ability to solve problems.

In 3D Modeling & Printing, students will learn the fundamentals of software-aided 3D design. In this class, they will be given the opportunity to exercise their imaginative and artistic skills and apply them as they 3D design and print models based on our curriculum that advances their skills over a period of time. Students will learn how to manipulate shapes and objects to create their desired model which encourages logical and visual thinking – two necessary skills for success.
